Strop paste sits between regular stropping and full honing on the edge maintenance spectrum — adding a mild abrasive element that can restore a dull blade or refine a freshly honed one without the need for a whetstone. The red compound has a coarser particle size, well suited to blades that have lost significant sharpness and need more correction before polishing. The black compound is finer, used after the red to bring the edge to a sharp, polished finish. Work each paste evenly into a dedicated leather strop with a cotton cloth before use. Using separate strops for each compound prevents cross-contamination and keeps the results consistent.

How to Use: Apply a small amount of paste to a leather strop using a cotton cloth. Work evenly into the leather with gentle pressure. Strop the blade as normal on the treated surface. Use the red paste first if the blade is dull, then follow with the black paste on a separate strop to refine and polish.
