Description
Shapton glass stones are known for their exceptional quality, durability and ease of use. The abrasives are extremely uniform, meaning the abrasive encountered with the first pass of a blade will be the same as the 5000th pass. Shapton has two main series: the HR (High Rockwell) and the HC (High Carbon).
The High Carbon range is softer compared to the harder HR sharpening stones. The HC series is designed for high carbon steel, while the HR series works best with harder steels and powder steels. The HC stones are also a bit greyer, whereas, the HR stones are white. Both are effective for honing and sharpen straight razors.
