Merkur has been making safety razors in Solingen, Germany for over a century. The slant bar design is the key distinction of the 37C — rather than meeting the beard straight-on, the angled head twists the blade to create a slicing motion, the same principle as cutting with scissors rather than pressing straight down. The result is a notably close, efficient shave on thick or coarse stubble that a standard straight bar head has to work harder to achieve.

This is a razor for those who know what they're doing. The 37C rewards good technique with exceptional results, but the increased aggressiveness means it's not the right choice for beginners or fine stubble. Also available in a longer handle version — the Merkur 39C.
