Merkur has been making safety razors in Solingen, Germany for over a century. The 39C takes the aggressive slant bar head of the 37C and pairs it with a longer 95mm handle for a more commanding grip. The slant bar design angles the blade to produce a slicing motion through the beard — delivering a notably closer, more efficient shave on coarse or dense stubble. The extended barber pole handle adds stability and control, making it a natural step up from the shorter 37C.

Like the 37C, this is a razor for experienced shavers who want maximum closeness. The increased aggressiveness rewards good technique; it's not recommended as a first safety razor. Also available in the shorter handle version, the Merkur 37C.
